From opening conversations on purpose and design, your Skyward Built project will be an experience of transparency and commitment; one that results in a beautifully-crafted space for years of enjoyment.

Our Story

Skyward Built arose from our passion to build beautiful, efficient, non-traditional living spaces in South-Central Alaska. Our name is rooted in the idea that there is no limit to creative expression and through thoughtful design, multi-medium use, and clear expectations, we can work together to craft living spaces that unifies function, individuality, and a cohesion with the natural surroundings.

Our Values

These values are at the core of our people and are tightly integrated into our practice. We work intentionally to have our values drive our decisions and interactions, and to remain the foundation for growth in serving our clients. Our team meetings open with success in how we’ve carried out these values and we’re continually excited to see how their directive presence excels in the structures and relationships that we build. No matter the scale of project, we’re confident that you’ll feel heard, informed, and supported during the construction of your Skyward Built venture.

  • We operate from a place of dedicated follow-through. Our words are backed with timely and detailed action that underline our high standards of success toward our team, projects, and clients.

  • The quality and quantity of shared information is vital to every aspect of a successful project. We pledge transparency within our team, toward our clients, and toward the schedule, finances, and innerworkings of all we do.

  • Our collaborative approach to building keeps your voice priority throughout the project. We recognize the importance of stylistic reflection and come alongside you to accomplish your vision and needs of your finished space.

Carpentry

Siding, trim, and finish-work has often been called “the ribbon of a home” and so commonly contributes the details, sharp lines, and transition in texture or medium that we all associate with a well-crafted, completed project. Through experience with stone, soft woods such as cedar, steel, glass, and carbon-fiber, our carpenters are well-versed and have an impressive portfolio in custom work. We work with designers, homeowners, and other craftsmen to collaborate on material and style that best fit the tone and atmosphere of the living space. If there’s ever an area where craftsmanship shines brightest and the simplest of concepts can create drastic change, custom finish-work is it. Please contact us to discuss how our multi-disciplined carpenters can help enhance the style and atmosphere of your space.

Glass & Joinery

Few geographical regions outside of Alaska demand as much from their windows and doors, which is why we are committed to being a leading design resource and install & servicer of glass throughout South-Central Alaska.

When creating new spaces, glass layout and quality have a significant role in the relationship of your space and the natural surroundings. Your window design is not only a stylistic statement, but also a leading influencer in your energy costs. By carefully considering the glass layout, we can design a package that passively heats your space, creates gathering areas for great views, generates improved air quality, and offers sound protection from the elements.

If you’ve already selected a builder, we’re happy to work with their drafter or architect to explore areas of maximizing energy-efficiency and offer corrective direction to any forecasted issues in the current glass plan.

If you’re not yet in the design stage of your new space, but are taking steps toward it, our consulting services are here to assist in design options, identify areas of passive solar gain, and provide details on glass product consideration.

Technology

Through managing and constructing numerous projects, we’ve continually questioned best-approaches for building in the Arctic environment. This mindset has led us to create new practices and new products through partnered manufactures that has entirely shaped the way we build. We are proud of the steps we’ve taken in utilizing passive energy, increasing the strength of our structures, and delivering finished spaces that excel in Alaska.

Your new living space will be stronger, last longer, and be more energy efficient than offered by other builders.

Land

If you’re considering a new living space, like most, you’ve likely spent countless hours collecting images and ideas, planning the layout, and visualizing your future in it. Yet, one of the most important and overwhelming factors in the process can be securing your location.

Your building site guides the process of priorities in your design. Working creatively with the land to ensure those priorities are met is vital to the project.

With this in mind, we hold several home sites that maximize many of our clients’ needs and have chosen them based on leading structural and environmental considerations. Please contact us for more information on build-to-suit locations.
